about

This is a song written after a trip to Iceland. I met a lovely girl on that holiday and we had a long-distance relationship for a short while before splitting up. It is a song about the frustration of everything seemingly clicking into place, being in the right place at the right time, odd coincidences and fate that all point to 'This HAS to be the one, surely?' only to have it all crash down around you.

lyrics

I threw a coin into the Cobalt Blue
From a wooden bridge in Iceland
Should have seen it falling through (falling through)
My anti-Midas hand

Pessimistic man
Nothing goes to plan

You never knew
I put my faith into
Cobalt Blue

I often think of how we met
Can't just be coincidence (these incidents)
Same reasons, roads, hearts and minds
Put us there, same place, same time

An accidental man
That's what I am

I guess I knew
When I threw it to
The Cobalt Blue
I couldn't put my faith in you

If this is wrong
Why does it feel so right?
(Why? Why?)

Still puzzle how the pieces fell
I thought with Fate you had no choice
Nothing perfect ever works that well
Forgot you had a voice

Cobalt Blue
Won't come true
Because of you
The Cobalt Blue

I was focussed on a wider view
But it all comes down to you
It comes down to you
It all comes down to you
